Monday - Today students worked on the Self-Portrait in a Box Project. Many finished the project today and tomorrow will be our last day to finish the project.

Tuesday - Today students continued creating drawings for the Self-Portrait in a Box Project. Students will need to have their sketchbooks tomorrow. Wednesday - Today was sketchbook day. Students created an art piece in their sketchbook. They will need to have three sketchbook pages ready to turn in by Friday. Thursday - Today students continued creating drawings for the Self-Portrait in a Box Project. Students need to have 3 new artworks in their sketchbook. Friday - Today students turned in their sketchbooks with three new artworks in it and their bell work handouts. Monday - Labor Day Tuesday - Today students were introduced to their new project, the Self-Portrait in a Box. They took some notes and we looked at a few past projects. For the project, students need to bring in 6 small hand held objects that have meaning for them or represent things that have meaning for them. I demonstrated how to draw contour line drawings of hands and then the students began practicing. Students should have their sketchbooks for tomorrow. If the student is not done with the Graffiti Color Wheel Project, they need to come in to finish it during my office hours. Wednesday - Today was sketchbook day. Students created an art piece in their sketchbook. Thursday - today I demonstrated creating an observational contour line drawing of a hand in two different poses and as I completed a step, students followed along. Tomorrow we will begin the final drawings for the Self-Portrait in a Box project. Students will need small hand held objects that have meaning for them or represent them in some way to draw from for the project. Friday - Today students began their final drawings for the Self-Portrait in a Box project.

Tuesday - Today students worked on finishing the Graffiti color wheel. Wednesday - Today was sketchbook day. Students created an artwork in their sketchbooks. Thursday - Today students turned in their bell work handouts. They also worked on the graffiti color wheel project Friday - Today students worked on finishing the Graffiti Color Wheel project. This will be the last day to work on this project in class. Monday - Today I went over the different painting materials and demonstrated some color mixing and painting techniques and procedures for the Graffiti Color Wheel project. Student then began painting on their Color Wheels. The quiz over the color wheel and basic color theory is on Thursday. Sketchbooks are also due on Friday. Tuesday - Today students continued to paint on the Graffiti Color Wheel project. Quiz on Thursday and 3 Sketchbook drawings are due on Friday. Tomorrow is sketchbook day. There will be a quiz over the Color Wheel notes on Thursday. Wednesday - Sketchbook Day. Today students created an artwork in their sketchbooks. They need to have 3 completed and labeled artworks in their sketchbook by Friday. Thursday - Students took a quiz over their color wheel notes. When they finished, they worked on painting their Graffiti Color Wheel Project. 3 sketchbook drawings are due tomorrow. Friday - Today we went over the quiz students took yesterday. Students then turned in their sketchbooks with three drawings in them, a reflection handout for each drawing, plus their practice sketch for the Graffiti Color Wheel Project. They then worked on their Graffiti Color Wheel paintings.
Monday - Today we discussed Graffiti Art as both vandalism and an artform. We watched a couple of videos on the history of the Graffiti Art Movement. We then went over some basic color theory and the color wheel. Students took notes. Tuesday - Today students used rulers to separate their pages into 12 sections - one for every color on the color wheel. Wednesday - Today was sketchbook day. Students did an artwork in their sketchbooks. They should have at least 2 sketchbook entries this quarter. Thursday - Today I demonstrated different ways to draw my name in Graffiti letters that students can apply to their own name. Students then practiced writing their name in Graffiti letters in their sketchbooks. When they found a design they liked, they drew it on top of the color wheel they drew on Tuesday and then labeled where each could should go. Friday - Students finished practicing drawing their name in Graffiti letters and transferred their design to their color wheels - labeling where each color should go.
Monday - Today we watched a few videos on art and looked at some art pieces and discussed what art is and what art does for us. Syllabus and Sketchbook are due tomorrow. Tuesday - Today we discussed what a visual journal/sketchbook is and looked at some examples. I demonstrated some watercolor techniques. Students began practicing these techniques. Students turned in their syllabus. Wednesday - This is sketchbook day. Students worked in their sketchbooks using the techniques they were showed. Or they drew on top of the watercolor paintings they created. Thursday - Today students worked on individual artworks that will be part of a larger collaborative piece. When they finished, they worked in their sketchbooks. Friday - Today students finished their individual artworks that will become part of a larger collaborative piece. They then voted on what project they would start the quarter with. They voted on the Graffiti Color Wheel. When done, they worked in their sketchbooks.
Thursday - Welcome to Art and Design class. Today we started going over the syllabus including contact information, class overview, and the required materials for the class. Students filled out a getting to know you handout. We also played some icebreaker games. Friday - Today we finished going over the syllabus covering the rules and procedures of the class. We also covered bell work procedures and did our first bell work square. The syllabus is due signed by Tuesday of next week. Students need to have a sketchbook by Tuesday of next week.
